04 - Craft
Some decisions no machine can make.
In our manufactory in Steinach on Lake Constance, people work who don't just process tobacco - they understand it. Every batch passes through their hands.

Every harvest is different. Every leaf behaves differently. That is why the most important decisions remain in the hands of people who understand their craft.
Four disciplines
Precision is what
machines deliver.
Experience, feel and stance - they don't. That is why the most important steps stay in Heimat hands.
Sorting
Every leaf is judged by stalk position, colour and texture. What doesn't fit goes back.
Stripping
The midrib is removed without haste. So the leaf can show its character.
Refinement
Mountain spring water from the Alpstein brings the leaf back into balance.
Quality control
Smell. Touch. Burn. Four eyes. Sometimes six. We don't release anything we wouldn't pass on with pride ourselves.
„Machines create uniformity. People create quality.“

Experience leaves no manual
Craft knowledge is not created in seminars. It arises through practical repetition, observation and experience. Many decisions are not made by form but by feel, comparison and a trained eye.

Steinach · Lake Constance
Our family manufactory. Where the leaf finds its home.
In the heart of Steinach on Lake Constance, Swiss tobacco is processed, fermented and refined. This is where our products are made. This is where our people work. And this is where the knowledge that has grown over generations is preserved.
